I'm baaack!
Wow, has it really been a month since I wrote a blog? It seems like, well, a month ago.
The Drake Relays started on Wednesday and really kicked into gear today. This is one of my favorite events, if not the favorite. Where else can you run along side, sit and chat with the some of the best athletes in the world? High school athletes get to watch and share a track with the Olympic champions.
And if the weather is nice, there's nothing better.
Drake Stadium, with its blue track, is one of the best track and field facilities in this country and updates made last year have only made it better. Next month, this venue will host the combined boys' and girls' state meet, the Missouri Valley Conference Championships and an NCAA regional. Next year, the NCAA Division I Championships come to Des Moines.
For track and field fans, this is heaven in Iowa.
