Let the games begin
Has it really been since April since I last posted here? That's too long and I promise to post again before next April. Really!
The fall is upon us with a small schedule of prep football games last Friday and a full slate this week. It's a great time, one of my favorites. There's nothing like a high school football game on a Friday night.
College games get into gear this week with Iowa traveling to Chicago to play Northern Illinois, Iowa State hosting Kent State on Thursday and Northern Iowa also playing Thursday in the UNI-Dome against Minnesota State-Mankato.
I made my humble predictions in Sunday's paper, but will repeat them here. Iowa will go 7-5, 8-4 at best. ISU will take baby steps to a 4-8 campaign and UNI will go 8-3 in the regular season and make a deep run in the playoffs.
As for local colleges like Coe and Cornell, I look for more of the same in Cedar Rapids from the Kohawks and an improved bunch in Mount Vernon.
It's a great time of be a sports fan. So ... let the game's begin.
