I used to live in CR and everybody raved about Al & Irene's. No offense, but it was the worst stuff I've ever had in my life. Having lived in Memphis, Al and Irene's pales in comparison. When serving pork, you pull it apart, not slice it and drown it in mediocre bbq sauce. Ugh. And don't get me started about the ribs. Yuck. I know when you live in Iowa, you have to settle for a lot of things, but in this case, go get a smoker and some pork shoulder and do it yourself. Then you'll see how BBQ is supposed to be.
